Habitat for Humanity of McHenry County is a locally run affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing organization. Habitat for Humanity of McHenry County works in partnership with people in need, to build modest and affordable housing. The houses are sold at no profit and with no interest. Volunteers provide some of the labor, and individual and corporate donors provide money and materials to help build Habitat houses. Partner families themselves invest hundreds of hours of labor, called "sweat equity," into the building of their homes and the homes of others. Their mortgage payments go into a revolving Fund for Humanity that is used to build more houses.

Our Vision Statement

Building houses in partnership with God's people in need

Mission Statement

The mission of Habitat for Humanity of McHenry County is to provide opportunities for home ownership to low income families or individuals, and to put the reality of substandard housing in the minds and hearts of McHenry County residents in such a powerful way that unattainable home ownership for these families or individuals becomes politically, socially and religiously unacceptable.
